ttc s.r.o. has been awarded the contract from company Transpetrol a.s. (Slovakia) for the upgrade of the existing leak detection system to the latest PipeMan version. PipeMan will be also extended with the Batch Tracking system to support the transportation of different batches of crude oil which originate from different sources.
The entire project was carried out by our own engineers. Two engineering groups were involved: PLC – two engineers and SCADA – three engineers. Some tasks such as supply and configuration of the communication network, calibration field instrumentation have been performed by customer who’s staff was trained for such activities.
In the initial phase of the designing has been filed by meetings where we clarified customer’s needs and ideas of the new control system. The result was the FDS, which reflects our understanding of customer requirements, particularly with regard to the control philosophy of overall pumping stations. After approval of FDS we have started the configuration of the control system and the customer was concentrated to the communication system upgrade.
Due to the fact that it was the upgrade of the existing PLC and SCADA system it was not possible to implement the standard FAT. We performed partial testing only where the main task was to check the mapping of I/O signals to the communication protocol.
Realisation of the whole upgrade has been performed during the normal operation of the pipeline with the minimal shutoff time.
Finally we have handed over to the customer modern control system with redundancy at the level of I/O servers and workstations after the final SAT test.
